Meet Victoria: GLC's Spring 2020 Intern!

We're so excited to have Victoria on board this semester! Not only is she a huge help with all things Green Light, but she loves food and dogs as much as we do, so you know she's a keeper! Here's Victoria to introduce herself...

Hello! My name is Victoria Moore and I am Green Light Communications’ new spring intern! I am a sophomore pursuing a public relations degree at N.C. State University (go Pack!). (Editor's note: Y'all know I couldn't let that go without popping in here with a big GO HEELS!) Public relations has always been a field that I was interested in because I find the ability to network, help people and support and build businesses in a variety of ways to be a fascinating effort. I believe that the field is ever-evolving (especially in the Raleigh area) and drastically morphing how small businesses, solo practitioners, agencies and corporations are able to forge their paths in the local community and beyond.

I began my college career slightly differently than the average 18-year-old… I packed my bags and flew to Prague, Czech Republic for a semester abroad! I cannot express enough how glad I am that I had that experience. Prague’s culture, architecture and citizens opened my eyes to a world outside of my home in Raleigh. Since I have lived in Raleigh my whole life, the transition to campus life was a fun, yet challenging step!

N.C. State offers endless organizations and ways to get involved on campus, which is how I found my sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma (Editor's note: Kappa sisters for life!), my fitness instructing job at the Recreation Center, Best Buddies (a group that works with developmentally disabled adults) and the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). It is through PRSSA that I met Lindsay and the rest is history! PRSSA focuses on educating undergraduate students on what it takes to be a successful PR professional by providing seminars, networking opportunities and more. Entering my position as an intern for GLC, I am excited to dive into the professional world of public relations, learn from Lindsay and get up to speed on some of my favorite businesses in Raleigh!

When I am not in class, you will definitely find me at a coffee shop. To be honest, I have not met a coffee shop or a coffee drink that I do not like. There is nothing like starting your day at 7 a.m. with a good cup of coffee! During the evening, I teach dance classes at the North Carolina Dance Institute. I have been a dancer my whole life and found this studio when I was 12 years old. I began training there and eventually took on a teaching position at the age of 16. Ever since then, I have been teaching multiple styles of dance and have built relationships with students of all ages. I have branched out into the Raleigh arts community by choreographing musicals and working with area middle and high school students, as well dancing professionally for three years.

If I could only eat one kind of food for the rest of my life, it would definitely be a burger with a side of sweet potato fries. My love for sweet potato fries is right up there with my love for coffee (but nothing trumps a latte)! I also enjoy staying active by dancing and going to the gym. I love winding down to any baking show on Netflix, even though my baking abilities are not the greatest. On Saturdays, I love laughing along with the cast of Saturday Night Live. In my next life, I'm sure I will be the world’s most hilarious and lovable TV personality and be best friends with Justin Timberlake and Ellen DeGeneres.

I cannot wait to further interact with you all and keep you up to speed on all things Green Light Communications. I wish you all a happy and healthy 2020! Thanks for reading!
